Why Facebook Ads Not Working

So without wasting any time, let us quickly find out the complete information about 5+ Ways to Optimize Your Facebook Ads: Why Facebook Ads Not Working. So let’s know.

Why Facebook Ads Not Working?

Facebook ads are a great way to promote your business and generate leads. But what if your ads aren’t delivering? What if you’re not getting the results that you want?

If your ads are not showing up on the platform, it might be because you have a poor ad setup.

Poorly optimized ads can lead to low engagement rates and even lower click-through rates.

There are a few ways to know if Facebook ads aren’t working for you –

1. Your ads have been rejected

This could be one of the reasons that your Facebook ads have not started delivering because they are not complying with the Facebook ad guidelines.

You might want to relook at your Facebook ads and ensure that they follow all the guidelines that Facebook has laid down. You can refer to their official link to understand more about their Ad policies.

As a part of its process, Facebook rigorously checks all the ads that follow the official advertising guidelines. This can also include Facebook Ads Comments.

Your ad may get rejected if it’s promoting alcohol, dating, gambling, or prohibited content.

Pay close attention to what you can advertise and what you cannot also ensure what type of images you are using, once you fix all these things, you will have to then resubmit the ad to Facebook for approval and once that is done, your ad will start delivering impressions within 24-48 hours.

2. Your Target Audience is way too small

We understand that advertisers and brands would like to razor target their audience by utilizing the amazing targeting and segmentation capabilities of the Facebook platform, but during that process sometimes the audience size becomes way too small, a small audience can lead to fewer impressions or your ad may not even run.

Typically if the audience size is less than 1000 users Facebook would show that this is a low audience base and would not lead to effective results.Β

Facebook Target Audience

What you can do?

  • Add more interests and behaviours so that your overall user base increases and your ad can start triggering impressions. You can also increase the radius of your geographical location by including the nearby location as that would also help increase the user base.
  • If you are using a custom audience ensure you have enough phone numbers or email id’s which Facebook can map to prepare a considerable audience set.
  • If you are going for a lookalike audience and the audience base is low, relax your audience base and go for a 2, 3 or 4% match instead of 1% match, this would broaden your audience base, but at least would help your ad run, later on you can check the performance insights and remove the audience which is not performing well.

3. Your audience is overlapping

This could be one of the major issues why Facebook ads do not reach their original potential.

Overlapping audiences can lead to poor delivery and performance as your ads compete with each other and lead to poor utilization of the ad budget and less optimized delivery.

Let’s try to understand with a simple example, say you want to target users who are of 25-45 year age group with an interest in Android and live in California, so the best way to target these users would be either on the basis of Ad sets or on the basis of genders, so the Ad sets that you can create would be –

facebook audience

Ad Set 1:- 25 – 45 Males living in California

Ad Set 2:- 25 – 45 Females living in California

You see these are 2 mutually exclusive ad sets and would have zero overlaps and hence would lead to more effective performance.

You can check the overlap with the help of the Facebook Audience overlap tool.

4. Your Spending limit has been reached

One of the most critical things in your overall ad campaign is your budget, for a lot of new advertisers, Facebook has set a threshold to ensure that it builds on account quality before you can start spending thousands of dollars on your Facebook ad campaigns.

The spending limit is the cap that Facebook puts on advertisers, once that limit is reached for the day Facebook will stop showing your ads.

You can find this underpayment and settings > Billing & Payment Methods

To ensure that your spending limit keeps on getting increased, never miss the payments if you have opted for an Auto Debit facility to pay your Facebook ad dues, also have a backup payment method so that if your primary method of payment fails your payment goes through and your ads keep on running.

5. Improper Ad Formats & Sizes

One of the big challenges that brands and advertisers face is that Facebook is constantly evolving in fact one could see an update on their mobile device every second or third day.

Consistent update from Facebook means the introduction of newer ad formats that are rich and interactive in nature and in order to deliver a seamless experience Facebook keeps on changing its ad sizes every now and then. To keep up with Facebook ad sizes keep a tab on their official channels.

You can find the entire Ad Size guide here.

If you upload a proper format of a Facebook ad, you would increase the probability of giving a great user experience to your prospective customer and in return, Facebook will deliver impressions and optimize your ad accordingly.
